Akimbot

Experience

I had the opportunity to work on Akimbot, a 3D platformer shooter, released in August 2024 on all platforms.
As a Level Designer, I joined the team mid-production to help enhance the levels, ensuring a more engaging and seamless experience while staying true to the game’s universe.
It was an enriching experience to contribute to such a comprehensive project and help refine its mechanics and atmosphere.

Development Contributions

Narration & Gameplay Scenario

  • Writing level flow and key game sequences.
  • Anticipating & integrating necessary gameplay elements.
  • Ensuring alignment with the main storyline.
  • Proposing concepts for cinematics.

Level Design

  • Design & integration of game sequences in-engine.
  • Placement of triggers and essential gameplay mechanics.
  • Creation & optimization of secondary paths.

Programming & Gameplay Systems

  • Development of interactive elements for level design.
  • Creation & scripting of boss fights.
  • Development of mini-games.
  • Prototyping new mechanics and 3C.
  • Programming in-game achievements.

Quality Assurance (QA)

  • In-depth testing to ensure level design playability & coherence.
  • Organizing & tracking playtests (note-taking, feedback collection).
  • Analyzing player feedback and iterating to improve the experience.
