Student projects
Gametunut
Gametunut is a gamified application that combines social networking and nutrition. It was created during my end-of-year internship, aiming to influence user behavior through various game mechanics.
Players take on the role of a nutrition-focused community manager, responsible for sharing recipes, interacting with users, and responding to their specific needs.
The project is based on three core mechanics:
- Storytelling: Users follow interactive narratives based on posts, featuring stories of physical transformation or adaptation to a specific diet.
- Goal-Oriented Gameplay: Players fulfill personalized nutritional requests by creating suitable meals.
- Reward System: Players earn followers & interactions to unlock new content.
The game explores how these mechanics impact motivation and user engagement through an experimental study, comparing different combinations of these systems. The goal is to offer an innovative approach to social marketing, blending engaging gameplay with nutritional education.
May 2022 – Sept 2022
Interactive content creation
- Writing missions focused on meal creation tailored to user preferences.
- Designing « social media-style » posts within the game.
- Game design for the meal creation mode.
- Integrating content into Unity alongside the developer.
Project management
- Designing the game to align with a doctoral research question.
- Task distribution and team coordination.
- Organizing meetings and tracking project progress.
- Collaborating with a nutritionist to ensure accuracy and relevance.
ToyRun
Concept :
A multiplayer racing game, where miniature toys compete on tracks built from everyday objects. Each race features improvised trampolines, cereal box tunnels, and interactive obstacles.
Roles & Contributions :
- Led team coordination, defining a clear production framework and ensuring mechanical consistency throughout development.
- Designed dynamic tracks, integrating obstacles like remote-controlled cars and waves of marbles altering player trajectories.
- Enhanced immersion, adding animated backgrounds with moving toys and objects reacting to racers speeding past.
Project Sarie
Concept :
A fast-paced competitive FPS where mobility is key. Players engage in 4v4 battles, using dashes, wall-runs, and vertical arenas to outmaneuver opponents.
Roles & Contributions :
- Oversaw development, tracking milestones and validating game assets for fluid gameplay.
- Designed an advanced movement system, allowing precise control over wall-jumps, slides, and mid-air reloads.
- Built strategic arenas, emphasizing key sightlines and engagement zones.
- Developed an interactive training mode, featuring dynamic AI targets.
THE REMEDY
Concept :
Set in a post-nuclear world, where survivors have mutated into gelatinous creatures. Players control a sentient slime, exploring an abandoned lab in search of a cure.
Roles & Contributions :
- Created unique slime-based mechanics, including squeezing under doors, absorbing materials, and splitting to activate switches.
- Designed physics-based puzzles, ensuring each area introduces a new challenge.
- Integrated environmental storytelling, using research logs, eerie lighting, and sound design to enhance atmosphere.
- Programmed physics-based movement, ensuring realistic interactions with surfaces and obstacles.
ATTRACTION
Concept :
A puzzle game centered on gravity manipulation. Players control a mechanical arm, using it to pull, push, and stabilize objects in a mysterious research facility.
Roles & Contributions :
- Designed ability sets, balancing puzzle difficulty to maintain engagement.
- Developed progressive challenges, introducing shifting gravity zones and timed platforming sequences.
- Embedded environmental storytelling, using broken machinery, encrypted logs, and audio recordings to unveil the game’s lore.
- Programmed realistic object interactions, ensuring credible physics reactions.
AGENT 1
Concept :
A stealth game, where players embody a spy equipped with holographic technology, capable of creating illusions to distract or deceive enemies.
Roles & Contributions :
- Designed a versatile gadget system, including holographic decoys, temporary invisibility, and surveillance jamming.
- Built open-ended mission structures, allowing infiltration via air vents, silent takedowns, or dynamic light manipulation.
- Developed an adaptive AI system, where guards detect environmental anomalies and adjust patrols accordingly.
- Coded enemy patrol behaviors, ensuring dynamic and unpredictable encounters.
Bounce
Concept :
A physics-driven platformer, where a glowing ball moves automatically, requiring players to anticipate bounces and interact with surfaces to navigate obstacles.
Roles & Contributions :
- Experimented with various surface properties, such as elastic, sticky, and electromagnetic materials.
- Designed fast-paced levels, where players must chain precise bounces to maintain momentum.
- Created a striking visual contrast, using a dark world with bright, colorful platforms as guiding elements.
- Developed a scoring system, rewarding speed and trajectory optimization for replayability.
